The short version. Walk your own steps, be kind, and don't fake it. We'll keep StepsMaxxing fair and friendly, and we'll explain things privately if something goes wrong.
1. About these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and [LEGAL ENTITY NAME], [REGISTERED ADDRESS] ("StepsMaxxing", "we", "us") for your use of the StepsMaxxing app and website. By using StepsMaxxing you agree to these terms, our privacy policy and, if you take part in a challenge or workplace competition, the official competition rules.
2. Your account
- You can use StepsMaxxing on your own without an account. Until you sign in, your data stays on your phone only, and is lost if you delete the app or lose the phone.
- To use social features you sign in with Apple or Google. Keep access to that sign-in account safe; you're responsible for activity on your StepsMaxxing account.
- An account syncs steps from one phone at a time: the one you most recently signed in on.
- Users under 18 need a parent or guardian's approval, as described in our privacy policy.
3. StepsMaxxing is not medical advice
StepsMaxxing is for fun and motivation. It isn't a medical device and doesn't give medical advice. Step counts come from your phone or wearable through Apple Health or Health Connect and may not be perfectly accurate. Walk at a pace that's right for you, and talk to a doctor before starting a new activity if you have any health concerns.
4. Acceptable use
Please don't:
- Post names, photos, cheers or posts that are offensive, hateful, sexual, violent, harassing, or that break the law.
- Pretend to be someone else, including a company, HR, StepsMaxxing staff or a well-known person.
- Bully, threaten or shame other people, including about how much or how little they walk.
- Spam people with invites, or use StepsMaxxing to advertise.
- Try to access other people's accounts or data, or interfere with how StepsMaxxing works (for example by scraping, reverse engineering or overloading our systems).
- Cheat (see below).
Names, usernames, nicknames, team names and group names pass an automatic filter, and every photo is automatically checked for nudity, violence and hate symbols.
5. Fair play and cheating
Cheating means counting steps that you didn't walk yourself, for example:
- shaking a phone or wearable, or attaching it to a fan, motor, pet or machine;
- carrying or wearing someone else's phone or device;
- using apps that fake steps.
Steps typed in by hand never count in leaderboards, challenges or competitions (they still count toward your personal goal and streaks).
How we handle it:
- A day over 50,000 steps, or 10 times your usual daily average, counts only up to 50,000 until our support team reviews it. If it's genuine, the rest is added back. Big days are welcome; this just keeps races fair.
- Flags are reviewed by our support team, never by your employer's HR.
- 3 or more flagged days in one competition triggers a review.
- If we confirm cheating, your steps for that competition are set to zero. We'll send you a private, non-accusatory message explaining why and how to appeal. You can reply once to appeal, and we'll review it within 3 working days.
- Repeat cheating means exclusion from company prizes for 6 months. HR is told only that "a participant was removed for a rules issue", never who.
6. Your content
You own the names, photos, cheers and posts you add ("your content"). You give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, display and share your content within StepsMaxxing, only as needed to run the app and as described in our privacy policy. The licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for anonymous competition totals described in the privacy policy.
You confirm you have the right to share your content, and that your photo doesn't show someone else without their permission.
7. Reporting and blocking
- Report: you can report any photo, name, post, group or person from inside the app. A reported photo is hidden until we review it. We aim to act on reports within 24 hours.
- Block: you can block anyone. They won't be able to see you, invite you or interact with you, and you won't see them.
- You can also contact us at hello@stepsmaxxing.com. See Support for how.
8. Bots
New users may see pace buddies on their friends board. Pace buddies are bots. They are always labelled "Bot", never pretend to be people, never message you and never ask you for anything. Their steps don't count anywhere real.
9. Workplace competitions
If your employer runs a competition on StepsMaxxing, your employer organises it and provides any prizes. Joining is always your choice, and nobody can force you to take part. What your employer can and can't see is set out in our privacy policy, and how competitions work is in the competition rules.
10. Suspension and termination
- You can stop using StepsMaxxing and delete your account at any time (how to delete).
- We may remove content, or suspend or close an account, if it breaks these terms, puts other people at risk, or if the law requires it. Where it's safe and lawful, we'll tell you why and give you a way to respond.
- We may change or stop features. If we ever shut StepsMaxxing down, we'll give you reasonable notice and a way to download your data.
11. Liability
We provide StepsMaxxing "as is" and do our best to keep it running and accurate, but we can't promise it will always be available or error-free. To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you is limited to [LIABILITY CAP, e.g. INR 1,000]. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection law that can't be limited.
12. Apple and Google
These terms are between you and us, not Apple or Google. Apple and Google are not responsible for StepsMaxxing or its content, and are not sponsors of, or involved in, any competition or prize. If you downloaded StepsMaxxing from the App Store, Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them.
13. Changes to these terms
If we make a meaningful change, we'll tell you in the app before it takes effect. If you keep using StepsMaxxing after that, the new terms apply.
14. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of India. Courts at [CITY, STATE] have exclusive jurisdiction, subject to any rights you have to bring a claim where you live under consumer protection law.
15. Contact
